Ask, Seek, Knock

Look to Heaven and ask....

This promise of Jesus, from the Sermon on the Mount, is one of the most comforting in the entire Bible. When applied to spiritual matters and not worldly concerns, it is nothing less than a guarantee of finding a road map with the route marked to the destination of eternal life. This does not mean a works salvation through the law will be found, but rather by prayerfully and sincerely seeking God in his Word, HE promises that HE will be found…. “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.”(Proverbs 8:17) and “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13). This, of course, means that the gifts of faith and repentance will be given. In America, we have the following resources readily available to seek God: Bibles, study Bibles, religious television programs, video tapes, radio, audio tapes, internet resources, computer Bibles with study resources, and many churches. Additionally, we have the freedom to seek God without fear. For 21st century Americans to plead on judgment day, “Lord, I if I had only known,” will be a hopeless, pitiful attempt to excuse our own failure.
