Discernment is needed to combat false prophets

The Bible teaches that there will be false prophets teaching false doctrine and that true Christians should beware and test everything with Scripture. These false teachers will distort Scripture as well as use their imaginations to dream up unbiblical false principles and the Bible very clearly teaches us to use discernment so as not to be fooled. I am not referring to minor disagreements such as mode of Baptism, but major core doctrines such as the deity of Christ and the way to have eternal life.
