Romans 8:8

Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

While the male peacock puts on a quite a show to please a mate, it is pure folly to believe that anyone in the flesh can please God. The best works of sinners that are not in Christ are but filthy rags. For one to imagine that he is right with God because of his high ethical standards or works of charity is an abomination to God. Also, this verse rules out the possibility of someone in the flesh coming to faith in and of themselves apart from a work of God in regeneration. If a person could come to faith while in the flesh, then this would please God; but then Romans 8:8 would be false. Therefore, since Romans 8:8 is not false, those who are in the flesh cannot come to faith unless God does something. This something he does is regenerate and give them a new heart that enables them to respond in faith. It is called grace and praise God that Jesus saves sinners completely.

Place your faith in Jesus Christ alone for the gift of eternal life and leave the shows of the flesh to the peacocks.

Only the proud resist this truth.

Mark,
This is true and it is amazing to me how some will go to great lengths to deny that grace is more than an offer, it is a makeover.

Amazing grace.
