Romans 8:38-39

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Natural light from the sun floods the interior of the all glass Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Jesus Christ is the spiritual light of the world and this Chapel symbolizes this by allowing physical light to pour in unrestrained by bricks and mortar. Just as physical light is not separated from the interior of this chapel, spiritual light cannot be separated from those who are in Christ Jesus.

This spiritual light that shines in the hearts of believers is assurance that the love of God is set upon those that are in Christ Jesus. Here in the closing two verses of Romans 8, we are assured that God’s love for his redeemed believers is so secure that nothing in all of creation will be able to separate us from that love. This point has been made several times in this glorious chapter and Paul closes the chapter by pointing it out yet again.

Praise God that Romans 8 teaches that salvation comes from God through his love, power, justice, and mercy. God renders justice by the atonement on the cross of Calvary and the Holy Spirit enables man to respond to the amazing grace that Jesus purchased for the elect. All three persons of the Godhead are very much involved in our redemption as it is presented in Romans 8.

Great reminder, Jazzy!

I love the the phrase "nor anything else in all creation..." - NOTHING can separate us from the love of God in Christ.

All of us who know Jesus KNOW this to be true, and while our experience isn't proof, it verifies powerfully our belief. I have four children - two were diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago. When my 11 month-old and 5 year old were on death's door in the hospital in two different states, and my wife and I struggled to get through each day - we found the truth and power in this passage.

We can be "more than conquerors through Him who loved us." "In all things God really does work for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes."

What a truth... what power! Thanks for the reminder today... I needed to hear it again.

Jazz Man,

Nothing in ALL CREATION is able to separate us from the love of Christ? Oh, man, you gotta love this! Not even my free will? Not even Satan? Not even maniacal gunmen on a college campus? Nothing? Are you sure?

NOTHING! I LOVE IT!

Very encouraging. God loves us, in Christ. It's personal, and it was before the world was created.

Jazzycat, I felt really honored that you came by my site. Thank you. I have been "lucking" on yours and reading. I so enjoy your questions and the back and forth on this site. I would love to hear you discuss "Soul" vs "Spirit". Maybe you already have and if so please direct me there. Thanks for your kindness.

Penless,
Thanks again for the visit. I am glad you commented to let me know about your site. I have not discussed 'soul vs spirit' as such. Romans 8 certainly has a lot to say about believers being indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Perhaps someone else would like to offer something on this subject.
