Romans 1:19-20 (First, the bad news)

Romans 1:19-20 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Paul is declaring the same thing that David said: Psalm 19:1-2 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. The photo above is an example of the glory of God. The more one observes and studies bees and flowers the more they point to the divine nature and eternal power of God. The photos on my computer to illustrate God’s glory are endless. Whether you choose a wide-angle landscape photo or a macro close-up, they all point to God and these attributes.

Therefore, It is plain to human beings that a creator is the reason the world exists. It is plain, and human beings read it loud and clear. It is clearly perceived, and this means that men have no excuse in denying a creator God. However, men do deny him by suppressing this truth.

The teaching here is not that God reveals this information and man does not realize it. No, it is that man does not miss it and in fact clearly sees it. Man suppresses this truth because he does not like the truth. He prefers another truth, and we are living in a time when all kinds of “other truths” are supposed to be considered equally valid responses to God.

Praise God that we are not only blessed with general revelation, but we also have his special revelation. If men are without excuse with general revelation only, then what must be their status with God when they also have access and knowledge of special revelation.

IF in deed. Awesome point to ponder. I love your pictures!! I admire the posts that have such lovely visuals to go with the message.

Speaking of the bees...are you familiar with the book "Cross Pollination" by Lila Terhune? It is subtitled "The Miracle of Unity in Intercession, Revival & the Harvest" and she uses the analogy of the bee.

" However, men do deny him by suppressing this truth."

Men love sin by nature; and by that same nature they HATE God. All the appologists in the world can not convince that sinner of his need for repentance and faith for he longs to sin and push his Creator out of the picture.

Jazzster,

I find these verses terrifying. Every time I read them I feel like falling on the ground and hiding because of their awesome truth. This is why: Not only do men refuse to recognize that which God has put in front of their faces, but they actively HINDER others and teach little children the lie! There it goes again! I'm under my desk! Frightening!

Nice post and comments.

I think of those who saw Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead, and they not only wanted to kill the Lord, but Lazarus as well.

And that's mankind. We, as Frank Sinatra sang, want to say, "And I did it My Way!"

Have a blessed day.

To everyone,
Thanks for all the comments.

To Penless,
I have not heard of that book. So much of God's creation is amazing that it boggles my mind.

Awesome post Jazzy,

As Shiloh Guy has said, these verses are terrifying. These verses are very ominous in tone for the Lord makes no idle threat. 1 Pe 4:17 comes to mind...
