Romans 1:6

Romans 1:6 including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ,

Paul, in this verse, tells the Romans they are included in those who are called to the obedience of the faith. They are also called to belong to Jesus Christ. What does it mean to belong to Jesus Christ? This is made clear by Paul later in Romans 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. Therefore, those that are called by Christ, have faith in Christ, belong to Christ, and have the Spirit of God dwelling in them.

Believers, through regeneration and faith, have the Spirit of God dwelling in them and belong to Christ. They have been called for the purpose of belonging to Christ. That is why Jesus said in John 10 that my sheep know my voice and listen to me. Jesus has equipped his sheep to know His voice, listen and follow Him. While His sheep will sometimes lose their way and get lost, He has promised that He will not lose or permit anyone to snatch His sheep from His hand.

Praise God that being called to faith in Jesus Christ means a believer belongs to Christ and is secure from all dangers. Believers are also enabled to follow Christ and, through the POWER of the Holy Spirit, they will succeed even though they stumble along the way to their eternal home.

If a person belongs to Christ, he will have new Spirit inspired desires that enable him to follow Christ. (Rom. 8:9 and 8:14)

If a person does not have these Spirit inspired desires and does not follow Christ in any way, then he does not belong to Christ.

Jazzycat, if you are prepared to call a truce, I will too.

Though it seems a shame to me that I might not feel free to ask the occasional question on Bluecollar.

I wonder if you have seen the clip below?

I think it might be something on which we could find some common ground.

If you wish to communicate, you can reach me at:

Dear Jazzycat,
Thank you for visiting my blog. (I love the photograph in your last post of the lightning and the wires).

I was disappointed to see that you didn't comment on the contents of my posting. I doubt you even read it but used it as a vehicle to reach Maalie. If he will not listen to you, he certainly won't listen to me!

I am not sure about the link he sent you above, but if you come back to my blog, and then go through to Kiwi Nomad's blog, she has a very interesting clip on youtube about scientists versus Christains. It is totally unbiased, and probably gave Maalie food for thought.

Please come back and read my Japanese blog and make a comment that isn't off topic.

Give my best to Gayla and Mark Pierson. I hope Mark is well.

Cheers, Lorenzo.

Jim,
Yes there is common ground! I think the Catholic Church made a monkey out of itself alright and it happened long before Darwin was ever born. The video I offered includes the bankrupt theory of abiogenesis and until your theory provids answers to how life came from non-life or how matter came from non-matter then I wouldn't be so sure of your conclusions. BTW, I do not deny micro-evolution.

This is my final thought and I do not wish to debate you on this subject. If you ever get serious about Christian theology without a mocking tone, then we can talk. Otherwise, I have no interest in your views.
