Psalm 100: verse 1

Psalm 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Not only should we praise God with worship and music, but we should also do it with joy. It is a joy that comes from thanksgiving for God’s kindness and mercy that he has bestowed upon his sheep. Everyone, in all countries that call on the name of the LORD, will experience a peace and joy from the Holy Spirit that will cause them to make a joyful noise unto the LORD. A joyful noise does not necessarily mean a loud noise as joy springs from the heart and not the mouth. Joy flows from thankfulness for salvation and trust in God’s providence and promises. This leads to a heart overflowing with praise and a desire to release the joy through music and thanksgiving.

Praise God that His mercy and love fills our hearts with a joy that yearns to point to his glory.

A heart touched by the Holy Spirit cries out "Abba Father!", and thanks Him for placing us in His Son.

Genuine joy can only belong to the regerated heart; a grateful heart.
Joy for the unbeliever is temporal. The believer's joy is eternal.
It's only a foretaste in this life, but in the next life this joy will be perfect joy; joy to it's fullest and never ending, for we will see Jesus as He is.

If out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks..the saints of God should shout to to the Lord with the voice of triumph! Amen Jazzy!

Our pastor talked about "the doctrine of joy" this past week in Sunday School. I'm considering writing a post about it. It's an often-overlooked blessing of the true born again Christian.
Great stuff here Jazzy!
And I echo Don's sentiments. Joy is only truly for the regenerate. Worldly joy is nothing but fleeting happiness provided by chasing the wind.

Susan,
So true. Joy is indeed a wonderful emotion that is often overlooked. But, it is a fruit of the Spirit.
