Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; (23) they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

In the photo above we see an example of the abundance that we take for granted each and every day. However, we should always be aware that God is in control of all of the complicated factors that are involved in producing such a wide variety of food that we enjoy every day. The hymn below states a truth that we should be thankful for every minute of every day when it says, “All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.” God has provided everything that is needed for human and animal life in this world. He has not only provided for our needs, but he maintains the intricate workings of the natural order. The Bible says it well in James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Brethren, life is temporary and fragile on earth and death will come to everyone in due time. However, God’s faithfulness does not end at our death as God has provided all that we need for our spiritual salvation. Even though we all have sinned and offended his holiness and are subject to his justice, he has also provided for us to have eternal life through faith in his son, Jesus Christ, who has paid the penalty for our sins on the cross of Calvary. Praise God for such a great salvation! Great is thy faithfulness.

Great is Thy faithfulness
Words by: Thomas O. Chisholm

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endurethThine own dear
presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

His provisions... Our next breath, our next meal. He is our only source for wisdom, knowledge, understanding and discernment. He (Christ) is our righteousness and sanctification. He alone is our source of strenth in the firestorms that most certainly confront every Christian.

I bow my heart before Him, recognizing that without Him....

Mark,
Well put. Everything comes from God.

In 1892, a man named James Black was a Sunday School teacher in Williamsport, PA. A little girl named "Bessie" had been faithfully attending Sunday School at his church. Mr. Black had originally invited Bessie to attend, and since she came from a poor household, he had arranged personally for clothing items to make the attendance possible.

Then came the Sunday when the roll call was silent. Bessie was absent for the first time. Concerned for the girl's welfare and fearing the worst because her father was a drunkard, Mr. Black quickly made his way after church to Bessie's home where he found a very sick girl.

Realizing that it was serious, he summoned his own doctor who diagnosed it as a case of advanced pneumonia. Later that day, Mr. Black went home, but he couldn’t stop thinking about the silence that followed when he called out Bessie’s name in Sunday School. He sat down at his piano and he wrote a song that day that is still sung in many churches

One of the verses says: When the trumpet of The Lord shall sound and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder I'll be there!

Bessie died later that week, and the first time the song was sung publicly was at her funeral.

One day, for each of us, the the morning will break eternal, bright and fair, and the saved of earth will gather over on that other shore, and the Lamb’s Book of Life will be opened. By God’s grace through faith in Christ Jesus you can know you have a home in Heaven. When the roll is called up yonder, will you be there?
